Frequently Asked Questions

Does the tattoo hurt?

Pain tolerance varies from person to person, but our goal is to make the procedure as comfortable as possible. Medical-grade numbing agents containing lidocaine and tetracaine are applied both before and during the procedure to minimize discomfort.

Will the color change over time?

Yes — facial cosmetic tattoos are designed to gradually fade over time, allowing for flexibility as your style or preferences evolve. Each pigment is custom-blended based on your natural skin undertones to ensure a soft and natural fade. For eyebrow and lip blushing procedures, color-refreshing appointments are typically recommended every 1.5 to 2 years, though this may vary depending on individual skin type and lifestyle factors.

Why is a touch up appointment necessary?

Due to the delicate nature of the skin in the treated areas, a follow-up appointment is recommended 6–8 weeks after your initial session. This allows us to assess how your skin has healed and perfect any areas to ensure long-lasting, beautiful results.

How can I prolong the life of my cosmetic tattoo?

To extend the longevity of your cosmetic tattoo, avoid using harsh skincare products like Retin-A directly on or near the treated area. Regularly applying sunscreen helps prevent premature fading. Additionally, avoid UV tanning beds over the tattooed area for the life of your tattoo to preserve pigment integrity.

Are areola tattoos covered by insurance?

Areola tattoos performed in private studios are typically not covered by insurance; however, custom invoices can be provided upon request for potential reimbursement through your provider. If the procedure is done through a partnered plastic surgeon’s office, it may be eligible for insurance billing — though this is determined on a case-by-case basis and cannot be guaranteed.
